Adonis

The Adonis Blue is a small to medium sized butterfly that is best seen in flight during the summer months, i.e. from May to September. They are known for their stunning bright blue colouration, which is only found in the males of this species.

The butterfly got its name "Adonis" from the beautiful young man of the same name, the mortal lover of the goddess Aphrodite in Greek mythology.
